The one heavily overcast day. Robert and Emily painted pottery at Wetheriggs Pottery. A few days later, when we went to collect the pottery, Emily made a chocolate lolly.

Our first walk was around Tarn Hows. The walk is easy with lots to explore along the path.

The Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre was walking distance from our holiday lodge, so we made a fews trips. Here's some pics from the grounds... |

Our first elevation walk - Orrest Head from Windermere. This is a very nice walk which follows a path through the trees until it breaks out into the clear near the top. There are great views of Lake Windermere from the top. This was also the first outing of the walking sticks Robert spotted on sale the day before.

Robert and Emily cycled (we walked) along the disused railway line betwen Threlkeld and Keswick. The route is part of the Coast-to-Coast path. Although nearly flat, the path was very stony and tough going for bikes with small sized wheels. Robert managed to cycle back, Emily took a taxi!

We caught the Windermere ferry from Brockhole jetty to Ambleside. Nice to leave the car behind.

Our biggest walk was Hallin Fell. This was Robert and Emily's first Wainwright fell! The car park is right at the start of the path up the fell, so it makes it a very manageable walk. The view of Ullswater is beautiful from the top.

After Hallin Fell we visited Castlerigg stone circle.

On our last day we went to Newby Bridge - the Aquarium of the Lakes and hotel.
