We found going to the beach on day 1 and 2 of the holiday, with lots of sunshine in the afternoon, really helped Robert and Emily adjust quickly to the US timezone. Not quite as many 3am mornings as last year.

We went to Parrot Jungle which along with the must-be-fed parrots, has a baby animal show, a parrot show and a great play area. |
At Wannado City - an indoor themepark where the children role play different vocations - Robert was an investigating policeman, an archeologist digging up dinosaur bones, and a manager at the Coca-Cola bottling plant. Emily on the other hand, was a manucurist and jewelery designer. Jointly, they shopped at the supermarket, made some cookies, and worked at the art gallery. Lots of their hard earned 'Wongas' (Wanadoo dollars earned by 'working' in the various roles) were spent at the amusements park.

We went to Lion Country Safari Park, where an inquisitive ostrich and giraffe viewing platform were the animal highlights. Best of all though was the water park...
We took a Duck Tour of Miami harbour which was a great way to see the waterways and secluded fancy houses. An added bonus was the dolphins which crossed our path.

Next up was Miami Metro Zoo - a world class zoo where the clever landscaping means that there are no cages.
We went to the Young At Art Museum in Davie, North Miami. This has lots of arts and crafts areas - each one culturally themed to a different country.
Next we went to Amelia Earhart Park. It is typical of Miami parks - spacious, with lots of creative play equipment and other attractions like lakes and walking paths.
Next we went to the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science. This had lots of interactive exhibits and playareas. The orange harvest exhibit is not something we've come across in the UK!
We went to another large Miami park - TY Park. More playground fun and a children's farm as well.
In the evenings we often walked to Lincoln Road - a major evening and nigh spot for South Beach. As we were in Miami over Hanukah, we went to visit the large hanukiah and watch it being lit. Doughnuts and latkes went down well (with some). We also breakfasted fairly regularly at Jerry's - a 24 deli.

Finally, some photos of our holiday apartment.
